Voyage Care are looking for experienced support workers to work in our new service in Colwyn Bay. We have various contracts from Full Time to Part Time hours(maximum 6-8 hours shift between the hours of 8am and 10pm). It will be a mixture of weekdays, weekends.

The person specification we would stress that the most important factor needed in supporting the client is the right disposition. What we are looking for are people who are calm, relaxed and supportive. They need to be generally upbeat and present a balanced, consistent and positive approach to in all situations.

Education/Qualification

Basic numeracy & literacy skills

Level 2/3 qualification in Social Care

Experience/Knowledge

Experience in supporting people with severe learning disabilities & autism

Knowledge of the Person-Centered approach

Skills and Aptitude

Effective and clear communication skills, both written and verbal.

Able to work unsupervised making the best use of resources

Good time management

Able and willing to drive

Personal Qualities

Ability to work in a team in a supportive, respectful and considerate manner

Ability and willingness to listen

Patience and consistency of approach

Passion for making a positive difference to the lives of vulnerable people

Ability to foresee and sensitively manage potentially challenging situations

Ability to engage constructively and regularly with the service user’s immediate family members

Physical Requirements

Able to ‘drive’ a wheelchair and utilize specialist mobility equipment with training

Able to undertake a broad range of moderately physical activities

Able and willing to carry out normal household chores including cleaning, making beds, cooking, washing clothes and personal care
