Taxes subsumed within the GST
A) Central Taxes:
GST has replaced the following taxes currently levied and collected by the Centre Government:

B) State Taxes:
Following State taxes that has been subsumed within the GST are:
- State VAT;
- Central Sales Tax;
- Purchase Tax;
- Luxury Tax;
- Entry Tax (All forms);
- Entertainment Tax (except those levied by the local bodies);
- Taxes on advertisements;
- Taxes on lotteries, betting and gambling;
- State cesses and surcharges insofar as they relate to supply of goods or services.
However, Basic Customs Duty, Export Duty, Toll Tax, Road and Passenger Tax, Electricity Duty, Stamp Duty and Property Tax has not been subsumed in the GST

What is GST Act 2017?
GST Act 2017 is an Act to make a provision for levy and collection of tax on supply of goods or services or both by the Government of India. GST Acts are Central GST Act, Union Territory GST Act, All State GST Act, Integrated GST Act, Compensation GST Act, etc.
How many sections are there in GST Act 2017?
GST Act Section: There are 174 sections in CGST Act, 25 sections in IGST Act, 26 sections in UTGST Act and 14 sections in GST (Compensation to States) Act 2017.
What is SGST Act?
SGST full form is State Goods and Services Tax. It is one the three components under GST viz. CGST, SGST and IGST. Under SGST Act, all taxes are collected for State Government.
Which is the GST Day?
First day of July is the GST day. Accordingly, 1st July, 2021 will be celebrated as GST day in the year 2021.
